Have you considered that you dog may have developed type II diabetes? If he is drinking a lot more than normal and is obsessive about food then this is a possibility. This is especially so if your pet is overweight (like in Humans).

Take him to the vet. Unchecked diabetes can play havoc with an animals insides and can shorten their life considerably.

Take him to see a vet just to check it out. it could be a sign of many ailments. But when your animals behaviour changes in such a manner it usually means something is not quite right. Better be safe than sorry.
